2025-04-16

From July 10 to 12, 2024, the sixth cohort of the NX International Logistics Class conducted a field study in Qingdao, visiting the Qingdao Branch of Nippon Express (China) Co., Ltd. (NX International Logistics), the Huangdao Bonded Warehouse, Huangdao Port, and the Haier COSMOPlat JiMo Automated Warehouse of RRS Supply Chain.

On July 10, the students first arrived at the Qingdao Branch office to gain an understanding of the company’s working environment, daily operations, business strategies, and management philosophy. Qian Minghua, Director of the Human Resources Center, General Affairs Department, Business Support Division, introduced the company’s basic profile. Zuo Jingcheng, Deputy General Manager of the North China General Branch and Director of the Business Department of the North China Business Management Division, shared the company's measures in response to current challenges. Yang Lin, General Manager of the Qingdao Branch, and other representatives presented the business development status in Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Lianyungang, and other locations.

On July 11, students visited the Huangdao Bonded Warehouse and Huangdao Port. Li Yuanyuan, Senior Manager of the Branch, and other staff members explained the management and operational practices of the bonded warehouse. The facility implements the 6S philosophy (Seiri – Sort, Seiton – Set in order, Seiso – Shine, Seiketsu – Standardize, Shitsuke – Sustain, and Safety) in detail and reflects the company’s commitment to full responsibility for both clients and products. Later, teachers and students visited the Huangdao Automated Terminal and the Red Logistics Exhibition Hall. They witnessed the highly efficient, unmanned operations of a modern port, experiencing firsthand the crucial role of modern technology in the logistics industry, and learned about the stories and values of pioneering logistics practitioners through the exhibition.

On July 12, the class visited the RRS Supply Chain’s JiMo Automated Warehouse in Qingdao. There, they explored the management of large home appliance storage, the application of intelligent logistics equipment, and efficient sorting and delivery processes. The students also learned about the company’s achievements in sustainable development and its innovative approaches to adapting to market changes and evolving customer demands.

This field study is an important component of the Logistics School’s industry-education integration initiative. The site visits and hands-on learning broadened the students' professional perspectives, deepened their understanding of the logistics industry and career development, and provided valuable insights from both enterprise and industry viewpoints to support their academic and professional growth.
